Louise Gail Richardson was born December 22, 1947 in Austin, Texas at Seton Hospital because they had the facilities to care for an infant who was born a month premature. She attended elementary, junior high school and high school in Austin and graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) in 1971 with a BA in history.
During her childhood Louise studied viola at the University of Texas’ Junior String Project and played in its Intermediate Orchestra and later the Lamar Junior High and McCallum Senior High orchestras. With her family she would often spend time in the country and at the Texas Coast.
After college Louise lived in the San Francisco, California area for a couple of years before returning to Texas at Galveston, and then Austin again where she eventually worked at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality before retiring in 2012.
In 2017 Louise moved into a condominium unit in Lago Vista, Texas, and having inherited after her mother’s death in 2018, she found another such unit in Galveston. Now she spends her time in both places week in and week out.
During her time in Austin Louise, beginning in 1979, became involved in local theatre. She appeared in more than 30 plays, directed a few and wrote some herself. Her spoof “Hamlet the Dane” received a full production at Capital City Playhouse in 1991. In the mid-1980s Louise decided to write a musical, “Chanteuse”, and developed it over several years, finally getting a CD and a full production in Salado, Texas in 2011 with the help of musician/producer Richard Paul Thomas (RpT), pianist/arranger Nelda Milligan and Silver Spur Theater manager Granger Esch. Another production of the play was done in 2012 at the City Theatre in Austin. Louise wrote another musical, “Bluebonnet Road”, in the next few years with singer/songwriter Ron Kewin, and produced a CD, again with the help of RpT. The show was set to premiere at the Salado Museum in March of 2020 but was canceled because of COVID-19.
